Felt Board Easel DIY
Beckett got an easel for Christmas. Full score. If in that location was one thing I remember Fen playing with daily, it was her easel. The number of things you can practise with them, the way they grow with you lot (height-wise), the fun of having a fiddling special art center that's all yours. Priceless.
A few days after bringing it home, I was looking at the easel and my encephalon kicked into gear. (danger.) We already have a big chalkboard hanging on our wall, so I realized Beckett didn't really need another chalkboard. What he did need? A felt board. Oh yep, every child needs a felt board.
Here's what I did.
one. I unscrewed the chalkboard piece from the easel, placed information technology face up downward on a piece of flannel. Traced it with Sharpie, but didn't cut it out still!
2. Then I used spray adhesive (Elmer'southward) on both the flannel (covering the whole inside of the foursquare), and the surface of the chalkboard…. waited a moment for the sides to become slightly tacky, then advisedly laid the board face down on the flannel.
3. I flipped the two over, so the flannel was now on acme, and grabbed a brayer with a loud whoop! The brayer is used to coil over the surface of the fabric to but seal those two surfaces together. I like to pretend I'm a giant who has picked up a steam roller and is flattening downwardly some asphalt. It's of import to make growling noises similar you're a grumpy behemothic when you lot do this.
P.S. Brayers are an indispensable tool. They are used for printmaking, pigment-rolling, gluing-together-pressing, and even squishing wayward bugs.

4. After the board had dried nicely- about 24 hours later- I flipped it over, felt-side down onto a rug and craft-knifed the flannel around the edges of the board. Then I jammed something sharp- I think a pin tool- into the holes of the lath through the flannel, and screwed it back onto the easel. Easy peasy! If I were much more than crafty, I would have glued a border of ribbon or something cool around the exterior edge of the flannel.
P.Due south. We made the felt letters past tracing around letter stickers and cut them out. I don't recommend cutting this many letters out, just I couldn't discover any non-sticker felt messages out and about. These are cute from Natalie's Crafts on Etsy:
